01 / WHAT IT BUILT

What the company did

Onepagetrip was a Sydney-based travel itinerary sharing community. Users could find itineraries written by other travelers, pick the ones they related to, and mix them together with trip planning tools to build their own itineraries. It was built by three founders: Ana (product/business), Jose (formerly of Expedia) and Lucas (technical).

02 / Onepagetrip FAILURE REASONS

Failure reasons

Onepagetrip died because it never had a business model. The team spent over a year building the product without validating the idea or monetization: users came to the site, downloaded itineraries and left without spending a cent, and both monetization attempts - hotel affiliate bookings and charging to unlock full itineraries - failed. It also faced impossible competition from billion-dollar travel companies for search traffic, and the founders kept their day jobs in expensive Sydney until the team broke apart.

03 / EVENT HISTORY

Events in the structured record

  1. Founded

Ana and two co-founders (Jose, formerly of Expedia, and technical founder Lucas) launched Onepagetrip in Sydney as a travel itinerary sharing community with trip planning tools.

  2. Shutdown

After more than a year of building without revenue, the runway ran out and the team broke up; founder Ana closed Onepagetrip, returned to Lisbon, and later founded Talkifly (born December 2016).

Onepagetrip never generated meaningful revenue: users downloaded itineraries for free and both monetization attempts (hotel affiliate bookings and paid itinerary unlocks) failed.

  2. 02

The founders kept their day jobs in expensive Sydney; after about a year the tech co-founder had to return to full-time work and the team broke up.

  3. 03

Founder Ana closed the company; no public loss figure was disclosed.
