01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
OnSwipe, a New York startup co-founded by Jason L. Baptiste and Andres Barreto (originally founded as PadPressed in June 2010 and rebranded in 2011), built a touch-publishing platform that turned ordinary websites into tablet- and smartphone-friendly HTML5 experiences. A single line of code converted a publisher's site into swipeable layouts; the SaaS product was free for publishers and funded by advertising. By the end of 2012 it reached 10 million monthly active users on iOS.
