01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
Credictive was a YC-backed startup founded in 2012 and led by serial entrepreneur Ela Madej, who had previously co-founded the boutique web and mobile consultancy Applicake (a seed investor in Credictive) and the Chicago-based CRM and sales-tracking SaaS Future Simple. Credictive wanted to be the IMDB for creative content and people - showing all the invisible people behind online content, like the end credits of the internet: books have acknowledgements, movies have closing credits, but on the internet creative credit is hard to verify. It launched in invite-only beta in May 2012 with a closed community and plans for a community-based, community-enforced reputation system using verification, flagging, and blocking. The product faded from public view after 2012 with no later funding or exit announced.
