01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
Realyze Intelligence was a healthcare AI company launched in June 2021 as a spin-out of UPMC's innovation arm, UPMC Enterprises. Founded by Gilan El Saadawi and Aaron Brauser, it built a clinical-intelligence platform that used artificial intelligence and natural language processing to 'read' both the structured data and the descriptive clinical notes inside patients' electronic medical records. By decoding each patient's story, the platform identified precisely defined populations with chronic diseases and cancer, linked them to the most beneficial treatments, and was later used to match patients to clinical trials and research studies. It partnered with clinical-data company Q-Centrix in cardiology and oncology.
