01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
Hedron (formerly Analytical Space), founded in Mountain View/Cambridge in 2016, is a space communications company building a network of data relay satellites to connect space to Earth in real time. Its planned data-relay backbone, with nodes in multiple orbital planes, provides near-constant connectivity between satellites and ground stations, routing customer data through optical and RF beams — reducing latency and cost for Earth-observation and other satellite data users. The company raised a $17.8M Series A in October 2021 (about $21.9M total) and won a $26.4M U.S. Space Force contract in 2022 for an initial demonstration of its satellite network.
