01 / WHAT IT BUILT

What the company did

Trully was a Mexico City identity-verification startup founded in 2022 by former RappiCard executives Fernando González Paulin (CEO), Carl W. Handlin (CTO) and Eric Balderrama (COO). It built a collective-intelligence identity-enrichment platform for digital fraud prevention: facial recognition plus machine learning as an unforgeable key for KYC authentication, letting fintech and e-commerce clients detect identity theft and impersonation fraud individually and protect whole company networks. It raised a $4.1 million seed round led by Costanoa Ventures, grew to 16 employees and about 30 clients, and was acquired by Brazilian digital ID firm Unico in September 2024.
