01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
Dashbot was a San Francisco-based conversational analytics platform founded in 2016 by Arte Merritt (previously founder of mobile analytics startup Motally, acquired by Nokia), Jesse Hull and Dennis Yang. Billing itself as 'Google Analytics for bots,' it gave developers of chatbots and voice apps on Facebook Messenger, Slack, Kik, Alexa and Google Assistant bot-specific metrics - sentiment analysis, conversational funnels, NLP response effectiveness - plus tools to act on the data, such as live human takeover of chat sessions and re-engagement push notifications. By early 2018 it had analyzed over 22 billion conversational messages.
