01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
ClassroomIQ (CIQ Labs) was a Chicago edtech company building a fast online grading tool for teachers. Its pitch: teachers spend up to 400 hours a year grading student assignments, and ClassroomIQ cut that time in half. Its hybrid solution let teachers, schools and districts keep using their existing paper-based assignments while grading them online in a fraction of the time and at a fraction of the cost — grade hundreds of questions in minutes using existing assignment formats. Based at 222 W. Merchandise Mart Plaza in Chicago, it was part of the Imagine K12 edtech accelerator network and was named among the top social enterprises to watch in 2017. No shutdown, bankruptcy or acquisition was found in any source; the company may be a misclassification in the failure records.
