01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
BoxyHQ was a London-based cybersecurity startup founded in August 2021 by Carlos Samame and Deepak Prabhakara (the former CTO of Red Sift). It built open-source 'security building blocks' for developers: low-code APIs for SAML single sign-on, directory sync, audit logs, privacy vaults and, later, an LLM vault for protecting data in AI interactions. The pitch was to let B2B SaaS companies add enterprise-grade compliance and security features in days instead of weeks, so developers could focus on their core product. Customers included Cal.com, Dub and Supademo. The company raised $2.5 million from MMC Ventures, Nauta Capital, OSS Capital, Trust Valley and Wayra, and was acquired by Ory Corp. on May 29, 2025.
