Gogohire
The business, the turning points, and the decisions behind them.
01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
Gogohire was a US recruiting platform founded in 2014 by Pete Ryan. It began as a hiring marketplace for sales talent and developed into a recruiting-automation platform for SMBs, offering automated candidate sourcing, screening and hiring workflow management as an affordable alternative to traditional HR solutions.
02 / Gogohire FAILURE REASONS
Failure reasons
Gogohire's feature set was commoditized. It built capabilities that merely matched competitors without a defensible advantage, in a crowded HR-tech market dominated by entrenched applicant-tracking players like Greenhouse and Lever, with new solutions constantly emerging. Unable to prove ROI against established rivals, it could not attract and retain customers cost-effectively, and after six years it failed to scale, collapsing in 2020.
