01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
VetPronto was an on-demand veterinary house-call service for dogs and cats, described as an 'Uber for vets.' Founded in Seattle in 2014 by Joe Waltman and backed by Y Combinator (Winter 2015), it let pet owners order veterinary visits through a mobile app — vets came to the home, charged around $129 for a traditional exam, and offered vaccines and health tests. The service expanded to San Francisco, Dallas and other cities.
