01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
Seva was a New York City knowledge management and search startup founded in late 2017 by Sanjay Jain — previously co-founder & CTO of Pictela (acquired by AOL) and CTO of Simulmedia. It built a hosted information discovery and collaboration platform that gave knowledge workers a single source of truth across the modern work stack: Gmail, Google Drive, Google Calendar, Slack, Box, Dropbox, JIRA and Confluence, using AI/ML and single sign-on so permissioning was never violated. In October 2018 it raised a $2.4M seed round led by Avalon Ventures with participation from Studio VC and Datadog founder and CEO Olivier Pomel. In 2023, Bloomfire — the Austin-based knowledge management platform — acquired Seva for its conversational AI and federated search capabilities; Jain joined Bloomfire as Chief Technology Officer.
