02 / In Stock FAILURE REASONS
Failure factors
Founder Ian McHenry told Pilot that In Stock failed because the consumer experience was only marginally better than Amazon/Instacart/DoorDash rather than 10x better, and after talking to customers he concluded remaining opportunities were not billion-dollar and he lacked founder-market fit in retail.
Founder said the product was cool but not 10x better than Amazon/Instacart/DoorDash alternatives.
Founder said he did not care about retail enough to keep pivoting in the space.
