01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
FinTron was a Stamford, Connecticut-based fintech founded in 2017 by Wilder Rumpf while a student at Sacred Heart University. Built 'by the mobile generation, for the mobile generation,' its app combined digital banking, investing, and financial education for Gen Y and Z: FDIC-insured checking with a debit card (via LendingClub Bank), fractional-share brokerage accounts through its SEC-registered, FINRA-member broker-dealer subsidiary FinTron Invest, plus FinTronU — a simulated-trading financial-literacy platform used in high schools and colleges. It raised about $10–14.3 million and served 10,000+ clients. In October 2024, FinTron was acquired by Apex Fintech Solutions.
