01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
Cloudthread was a San Francisco analytics startup founded in 2020 by Daniele Packard, Ilia Semenov and Thomas Yopes - engineers who had built cloud cost management systems at Lyft, EA and Citrix. Its cloud cost observability platform combined cloud billing data with application performance telemetry (New Relic, Splunk, Datadog, Slack) to give engineering teams unit cost metrics such as cost per query or cost per request, helping them build cost-efficiently in the cloud without development disruption. The company was part of Y Combinator's Summer 2021 batch.
