01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
AtomicJar was a New York testing startup founded in 2021 by co-founder Sergei Egorov, built around the popular open-source Testcontainers project (invented by Richard North in 2015). It offered a commercial container testing platform and Testcontainers Cloud: developers could test applications against real versions of databases, message brokers, web browsers and other dependencies running in Docker containers, instead of representations of them. Testcontainers became the de facto standard test framework for developers' 'inner loop,' with over 600,000 monthly unique IPs and 10 million+ monthly Docker Hub pulls, used by Netflix, Uber, Spotify, DoorDash and GitHub.
