01 / WHAT IT BUILT

What the company did

Pincites was a legal-AI startup founded in 2023 (a Y Combinator company) by sister co-founders Sona and Mariam Sulakian. It built an AI-powered contract drafting and redlining tool that runs natively as a Microsoft Word add-in: lawyers and business users review and rewrite clauses using configurable negotiation playbooks, market benchmarks and standards — automatic redlining, comments, deviation flagging and risk identification, with support for 80+ languages. It was trusted by enterprise legal teams at high-growth technology companies including Redis, Glean and Vercel. It announced a $3 million seed round in September 2023 led by Nat Friedman and Daniel Gross, with Y Combinator, General Catalyst and Liquid 2 Ventures.
