01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
Scout (investwithscout.com) is a Clifton Park, New York fintech founded in 2020 by Michael Haddix Jr. It built a phone-based investing platform that lets users create diversified portfolios, gain financial insights and connect with a digital financial advisor — designed to increase access to investing and help close the wealth gap. After the 2021 Supreme Court NIL decision, it expanded into financial literacy and fintech for collegiate athletics, partnering with schools, athletic departments and student-athletes. It joined Techstars Sports and the Northwestern Mutual Black Founder Accelerator (2023), and its investors include OneTeam Partners, Chris Paul, Reach Capital, Hustle Fund, J4 Ventures and Chingona Ventures.
