01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
Noname Security was an API security platform that eliminated API security blind spots — protecting enterprises from data leakage, authorization issues, abuse, and data corruption with agentless coverage across posture management, runtime security, and API testing. Founded in February 2020 by CEO Oz Golan and CTO Shay Levi (veterans of NSO and the IDF's Unit 8200), with headquarters in Palo Alto and R&D in Tel Aviv, it raised $220 million in total, including a $135 million Series C in December 2021 that made it the first API-security unicorn at a $1 billion valuation. In May 2024 it was acquired by Akamai for $450 million; the product is now Akamai API Security.
