01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
Longbow Security (founded 2019, Austin, Texas, by Derek Maki and Dayne Myers — formerly of McKinsey's Cyber Solutions New Ventures group) built cloud-native application security risk management software. Its platform gave security teams visibility from code repos all the way to cloud and runtime: automated root cause analysis across cloud security, application and code repo tools, continuous monitoring with real-time vulnerability discovery, and 'Best Next Action' advice so teams could fix the issues driving the most risk with the least effort.

03 / EVENT HISTORY
Events in the structured record
- Founded
Founded in Austin in 2019 by Derek Maki (CPO) and Dayne Myers (CEO), on the thesis that security teams drown in data but lack root-cause insight — Longbow would be the 'force multiplier' that drives more value from existing tools.
- Acquired by Veracode
On April 1, 2024, Veracode announced a deal to acquire Longbow Security for undisclosed terms, to connect security 'from code to cloud'. Longbow's application security posture management (ASPM) capabilities were integrated as Veracode Risk Manager (VRM).
