HitroNaSplet
The business, the turning points, and the decisions behind them.
01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
HitroNaSplet was a Slovenian hosting-reseller company founded in 2013 by Aleš Krivec (a computer-science graduate and former PL/SQL developer) together with a friend. They built a website that resold domain names and hosting packages, investing heavily in SEO: careful content planning got them onto the first page of Google in Slovenian, and daily visits and revenue were decent at first.
02 / HitroNaSplet FAILURE REASONS
Failure reasons
The business never generated enough revenue to justify the time invested. As revenue grew, so did the support, refund and billing workload — too much for two people to handle, yet not enough to hire help. Krivec and his friend started building websites and then WordPress themes, which became their main income, while the hosting business became a burden: hosting obligations to existing customers made closure a long, tedious process. In the end, one of Slovenia's biggest hosting resellers bought everything for a small sum (the recorded 2018 asset sale). The founder says they lost no money, just time.
