What the product was
RateMySpeech was a product for practicing and rating presentations — a 'first startup' side project whose founder later wrote the shutdown postmortem 'Let It Go, Let It Go…Sunset of My First Startup.' The product was built on the premise that people would want feedback to improve their presentation skills.

Why it failed
The founder concluded the basic concept was flawed: most people — 95% or more — simply did not care enough about their presentations to use or pay for a product that rated them. The problem it solved was not one users felt strongly enough to act on, so the product never found a real market.
