01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
Pluto Money was a mobile personal-finance app aimed at Gen Z college students. Users set short- and mid-term saving goals (labeled wishlist, bucketlist or adulting), linked their bank accounts, and received spending benchmarks plus anonymous peer comparisons. The app turned saving into "Spend Less" challenges - for example, dining out less for a month - with automatically tracked progress and motivating nudges. The company, backed by the Barclays accelerator, planned to launch a Pluto savings account through a partner bank.
