01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
Prophecy Sciences was a Y Combinator Winter 2013 startup founded by Bob Schafer that tried to transform recruiting with neuroscience. It built a novel battery of cognitive assessments combining behavioral testing with biosensor measurements, and used machine learning on the resulting behavioral and physiological signals to predict real-world performance — workplace output, athletic ability, team chemistry. A two-person B2B recruiting-and-talent team in San Francisco, it never raised venture-scale funding and was acquihired by Lumos Labs around 2015.
