01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
The Collaboratory was a Chicago-based AI startup founded in 2020 by husband-and-wife team Nick Lilovich (CEO) and Sruti Balakrishnan (COO), both University of Chicago Booth '17 graduates — Lilovich was a former McKinsey data scientist. It built an AI-powered research platform for biopharma: aggregation, search and summarization tools with NLP-driven recommendations to help researchers discover and collaborate on scientific data across public and proprietary sources. It raised about $1.65-2.2 million, with 7 employees.
