What the company did
Tara AI was a San Jose-based AI startup founded by Iba Masood and Syed Ahmed. It began as Gradberry, a recruiting platform in Y Combinator's Winter 2015 class, and in 2016 pivoted to Tara AI: a product delivery platform that used machine learning to predict the technical tasks, engineering resources and timelines needed for software projects. The company raised $13 million, including a $10 million Series A in 2019 from Aspect Ventures, Y Combinator, the Slack Fund and angels such as Jaan Tallinn and Di-Ann Eisnor, and won a $500,000 prize at the 2017 43North competition.
