01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
GoComm was a Mountain View-based startup in Y Combinator's Summer 2013 batch. It built a real-time communications and task management system for mobile workforces, targeting companies and venue operators that run complex live events. Described as Yammer for the mobile workforce, its product offered a transparent Twitter-like feed on mobile phones to coordinate teams. Co-founder Travis Dredd started the company after serving as chief of staff for the Democratic National Convention, where he lacked tools to coordinate staff and press. At demo day the company was already profitable, with a $150,000-a-year contract signed.
