01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
Opkit was a healthcare automation startup, founded in 2021 and part of Y Combinator's S21 batch. Its final product was a HIPAA-compliant generative AI call center for medical practices: the platform automated routine back-office phone calls - insurance verification, claims, prior authorizations, pharmacy prescription checks, and medical record collection - with a human-in-the-loop to handle edge cases. It had earlier built an insurance verification API for telehealth companies.
