01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
trustshare was a London fintech founded in 2020, building a unified API for marketplaces across payments, escrow, banking and credit. Its escrow infrastructure let online marketplaces, classifieds and gig platforms go transactional in a few lines of code: buyers paid into dedicated transaction accounts (with KYC/AML checks), sellers released funds on delivery, all over Open Banking rails with 1,000+ UK and European banks, in 180 countries and 55 currencies. Backed by Nauta Capital plus angels Alex Chesterman (Cazoo) and James Hind (Carwow), it raised about $3.2 million in seed funding and was shortlisted among Business Insider's top 20 fintechs to watch in 2021. The company was later acquired.
