01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
Shipsta, founded in 2015 in Mertert, Luxembourg by Christian Wilhelm together with Stefan Maratzki and Oliver Ritzmann, built a digital freight procurement platform that connects shippers with freight forwarders and carriers. Its platform streamlined tender management and procurement processes across air, ocean, road and rail, giving procurement teams data visibility and cost control for spot and contract buying. It raised over €8.9 million (about $10 million), and in August 2024 was acquired by Freightos, the online freight booking and rate company, to expand its digital procurement offering.
