01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
Nook was a London- and Lisbon-based fintech that built a trade collaboration platform to simplify how businesses trade together — starting with accounts payable automation. Its platform covered the full invoice lifecycle from receipt, through approval, to payment and reconciliation with accounting software (Xero, QuickBooks, Sage), using AI-enhanced OCR and customizable approval workflows. Founded in 2021 by Joe Lines and Henry Arnold, it raised a €950K pre-seed round led by Speedinvest and TriplePoint and won Xero's Emerging App of the Year. In November 2024 it was acquired by PayPal-backed Modulr for an undisclosed amount.
