01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
HeartKinetics, created in June 2019 as a spin-off from the Cardiology department of the Université Libre de Bruxelles (Charleroi, Belgium), developed the Kino-cardiograph (Kino): a non-invasive, cloud-connected monitoring solution born from over 10 years of ESA-funded research on astronaut cardiac function in space. Kino combined rhythm, cardiac strength and hemodynamic assessment — covering both the electrical and mechanical function of the heart — for daily at-home monitoring of heart failure patients. The Kino won the 1st Prize of innovation at the European Society of Cardiology.
