01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
Wundrbar was a Y Combinator Winter 2008 startup from San Francisco, founded by Andrew Dudley and Nicholas Grandy. It built a smart search bar with inline commands: instead of typing plain keywords, users could prefix searches with commands that routed them to specific services - typing 'fly sfo to new york next tuesday' would show flight results from the user's favorite search site, and commands covered car rentals, hotels, movies and online retail. It later released a $1.99 iPhone app bundling one-tap access to dozens of web services. Y Combinator lists it as Inactive.
