01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
Quad was a large group-chat app for college students, developed by Appsurdity (the company behind voice app Dubbler). Launched publicly on November 25, 2013, it let up to 500 people communicate in a real-time, thread-organized mobile environment - positioned as a 'college-sized' alternative to email lists and Facebook groups. Within 10 weeks it was used at more than 2,500 of America's 4,500 colleges by student organizations, clubs, study groups and academic departments. Co-founder: Matthew Murphy.
