01 / WHAT IT BUILT

What the company did

Carbon Trainer was the first AI-powered at-home fitness mirror, created by Carbon (a product of Elo Labs Inc., an interactive fitness technology company) led by CEO Sami Asikainen. The 43-inch 4K LCD touch-screen mirror used AI and 3D motion-tracking to coach strength, HIIT, conditioning, mobility and yoga workouts: it monitored form, planned and automated workouts based on progress, offered daily live and on-demand classes, and connected wireless sensors to users' dumbbells and barbells for granular metrics like weight lifted. It competed with Mirror and Peloton in the pandemic-era home-fitness boom.
