BeeBettor
The business, the turning points, and the decisions behind them.
01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
BeeBettor was a sports-betting analytics app founded by University of Waterloo graduates Jordan Murphy (a former professional sports bettor) and Matthew Wolfe. Pitched as the 'Robinhood for sports betting', it let bettors build, execute and track betting strategies in one place instead of cycling through 40+ sportsbook apps: it aggregated accounts, researched picks and automatically found the best price for each bet. Sold as a subscription power tool, it reached $10,400 in monthly recurring revenue and became one of the early +EV (positive expected value) tools. BeeBettor shut down in 2025, then relaunched in September 2026 as a smaller, invite-only, web-only free odds screen for prop bettors.
02 / BeeBettor FAILURE REASONS
Failure factors supported by the current evidence
On 2 December 2025 BettingStartups News reported co-founder/CEO Jordan Murphy's account that BeeBettor left the product after the +EV betting-tool market commoditized into a race to the bottom of copycat features and price competition, and he chose full-time betting education over running a single scanner.
Murphy described the EV-tool landscape as commoditized, a race to the bottom of copycat features and price competition.
He said he was more energized by education and exploring many tools than being tied to one product, which pulled him away from BeeBettor.
03 / EVENT HISTORY
Events in the structured record
- Product or service closed
The Modern Edge episode published 2 December 2025 states founder Jordan Murphy decided to shut the BeeBettor +EV/arbitrage tool down and pivot to full-time content; BettingStartups News the same day covered that interview as shutting down the app.

05 / CAUSAL CHAIN
How the factors connect
- 01
Differentiation is perishable: BeeBettor helped define the early +EV-tool wave, then the market filled with copycat features and a race to the bottom on price.
- 02
Do not fight commoditization with the same product: the founder's answer was to leave and teach betting fundamentals as content rather than keep grinding the tool.
- 03
A smaller, cheaper, focused product can outlive the ambitious one: the 2026 relaunch was a free, invite-only, web-only odds screen - a fraction of the original scope.
- 04
Educate your users, not just automate for them: when the audience lacks context about how the value is created, price becomes the only differentiator.
