01 / WHAT IT BUILT

What the company did

Zoba was a Boston-based startup founded by brothers Daniel and Joseph Brennan that built an AI-driven decision automation platform for urban mobility operators. Its API-first software powered fleet rebalancing, driver tasking, routing, dynamic pricing and demand forecasting for micromobility, car-sharing and delivery companies in over 150 cities worldwide.

02 / Zoba FAILURE REASONS

Failure reasons

Zoba was caught in the collapse of its customer market: after early wins and algorithm bake-offs, the Covid mobility crash and then tightening regulation and capital pullback collapsed much of the shared-mobility landscape, as co-founder Joseph Brennan wrote. With its customers retrenching, the company sold its AI optimization platform to Marti Technologies (NYSE: MRT), Turkey's mobility super app, in February 2024, ending Zoba as an independent company.
