01 / WHAT IT BUILT

What the company did

Preclusio was a Y Combinator-backed privacy compliance startup founded in 2019 by CEO Heather Wade and co-founder John Wade. It automated how companies comply with privacy regulations like GDPR and the California Consumer Privacy Act, using automated data inventory and mapping tools to find personal data across an organization and continuously monitor that it was stored and protected in a legally compliant way. Initially focused on Amazon AWS users, it ran pilots and priced from $25,000 a year, with engineering in Seattle and sales in the Bay Area.
