01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
Genesis Volatility (GVol) was a Chicago-based crypto options analytics platform founded in January 2020 by Greg Magadini, a former proprietary trader, and Pat Doyle, a developer and data scientist. It offered options analytics and volatility modeling tools for the cryptocurrency asset class, pulling data from exchanges including Deribit, Bit.com, LedgerX and Binance, and helping traders analyze implied and realized volatility, open interest, volume and block trades to find mispricings and high-probability trades. The company raised about $3.3 million from investors including Nascent and Amberdata. In October 2022 it was acquired by Amberdata, a digital-asset data provider, for undisclosed terms.
