01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
StudyRoom was an online portal that let college students organize around their classes: students found their class page at a supported school and shared lecture notes, asked homework questions, collaboratively built study guides, formed study groups, and booked tutors. The school page acted like a Facebook news feed of campus activity - events, professor chatter, social posts. It was deliberately 100% student-led: the founders refused to become 'another lame BlackBoard,' with self-policing flagging instead of moderator roles, even as professors pushed for controls.
