01 / WHAT IT BUILT

What the company did

Therapify was a Kraków-based mental-health startup founded in 2019 by Łukasz Pstrong (CEO), Damian Markowski (COO) and Jan Pluta (CTO) — a venture born after both Pstrong and Markowski lost close relatives to suicide in 2015. It built a SaaS marketplace connecting patients with psychologists, psychotherapists and psychiatrists: patients could choose the right therapy and book online psychotherapy from home, while specialists got tools to manage calendars, store therapy data and advertise services. It raised about €770K across seed rounds, reportedly served around 10,000 patients, and late pivoted toward corporate mental-health (B2B). It closed in January 2023 without an acquirer.

02 / Therapify FAILURE REASONS

Failure reasons

Therapify ran out of road because marketplaces need capital to build both supply and demand at once. It served some 10,000 patients and built a meaningful therapist network on only ~€770K raised, and moved from its original consumer model toward B2B corporate mental health relatively late. Better-funded competitors captured more of both the consumer and enterprise markets, leaving Therapify without enough consumer scale or enterprise contracts to survive — and it closed in January 2023 without an acquirer.
