01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
Dassana was a San Jose-based cloud security startup founded in 2022 by Gaurav Kumar and Parth Shah, the former co-founder and founding engineer of RedLock (acquired by Palo Alto Networks). It built the industry's first JSON-native, schema-less, index-free cloud log lake, separating storage and compute to make log analytics 5-20x cheaper and queries up to 10x faster, with its own Structured Log Query (SLQ) language. It later pivoted toward AI-powered risk and threat exposure management, including a 'CISO Copilot' for compliance evidence collection.
