01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
WriteWith was a collaborative writing web app founded in 2007 in Corvallis, Oregon, backed by Y Combinator. It let groups flow through writing, editing and publishing together: documents could start from an upload or be typed in, editors were invited by email and assigned tasks, with full version control, real-time co-editing and comments. It was beta-testing with 15 college newspapers, including Stanford and two of Canada's largest college papers.
