01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
Taleship was a social writing application built by Puerto Rican teen developer Sergio Mattei, who started coding it at 16. It encouraged people to write every day by letting them write stories together with friends. Selected for the Microsoft Imagine Cup world finals, it grew to over 600 users, with a planned education SaaS offering that never materialized.
02 / Taleship FAILURE REASONS
Failure reasons
Taleship never reached a sustainable scale at just over 600 users, and its planned education SaaS pivot never materialized. After Hurricane Maria devastated Puerto Rico in 2017, the demotivated founder shut the project down and moved on to his next product, Makerlog.
