01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
Brace was a minimalist website building and hosting service powered by Dropbox and Amazon's cloud. Users edited their site files in a local Dropbox folder and Brace published them to the web automatically, with no server configuration or database required; it also offered free tools for forms, charts and data. Founded in 2012, the company was acquired by Squarespace in late 2014 in a team acquisition, after which it stopped accepting new users.
