01 / WHAT IT BUILT

What the company did

MindStand Technologies was a Baltimore-based artificial intelligence startup founded in 2018 by University of Maryland, Baltimore County students Michael Ogunsanya, Eric Solender and Nikita Wootten. It began as a hackathon project at UMD's Bitcamp competition in May 2018 and built an AI platform that detected online harassment, hate speech and other troubling interactions in workplace communications, selling inclusion and culture analytics to employers and HR firms. The company joined the inaugural Techstars Equitech accelerator cohort, reported three live customers and a $3M+ sales pipeline in Q2 2022, and was later marked out of business.
