01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
SimplyListed was a New York-based mobile commerce startup founded in 2011 by Jon Grall (with Sean Nelson as co-founder), part of Y Combinator's Winter 2011 batch. Its iPhone app made selling used items as easy as taking a photo: users snapped up to four pictures of an item, and SimplyListed automatically identified it, estimated its worth by scouring the web for comparable listings, and listed it for sale in a digital bazaar, routing buyer-seller messages through the app with anonymized contact details.
