What the company did

Circonus was an observability pioneer specializing in monitoring and analytics solutions for enterprises with vast quantities of telemetry data. Its two flagship products were IRONdb — a high-cardinality time series database engineered to handle more than 1 billion unique metric streams, addressing key challenges data teams face with typical time series databases — and Passport, an observability solution for fleet management of all telemetry data collectors, with centralized visibility into agent inventory and management of telemetry elasticity at the edge. Having raised about $16.8 million, the company was acquired in February 2024 by Apica, the Swedish data-management and active-observability provider, which integrated IRONdb and Passport into its Ascent Platform; six Circonus employees joined Apica through the deal.

   In February 2024 Apica announced its acquisition of Circonus (its second acquisition in six months, following LOGIQ.AI), integrating IRONdb and Passport into the Apica Ascent Platform; six employees joined Apica. Announced alongside a new funding round led by Riverside Acceleration Capital.
