01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
Cardalonia was a 3D virtual-reality metaverse built on the Cardano blockchain, themed around medieval times, where players could create, own and trade custom experiences as NFTs. Based in Tallinn, Estonia, it ran a play-to-earn economy around its native utility token $LONIA (100 million fixed supply), used for land purchases, clan formation, staking (up to 20–25% APY), governance and an in-house NFT marketplace of land, avatars, power-ups and gems.

03 / EVENT HISTORY
Events in the structured record
- Token sales
Kicked off $LONIA token sales with a seed sale offering 50 million tokens at 14 LONIA per ADA, ahead of an exchange listing at 10 LONIA per ADA.
- Avatars and partnerships
Partnered with Ready Player Me to create playable avatars in the Cardalonia metaverse and launched a non-custodial staking vault for $LONIA holders.
- Ecosystem decline
Cardano's ecosystem saw widespread project failures — an AlphaQuest analysis found 74% of Cardano projects to be 'dead coins' — as most 2020–2021 bull-run projects collapsed in 2023.
