01 / WHAT IT BUILT

What the company did

BuildStream was a managed marketplace for supply chain quality in the energy and infrastructure sectors. It let companies book vetted supply chain inspectors and auditors anywhere in the world on demand, digitizing inspection scheduling and management for a sector worth over $200 billion annually, with early focus on the $30 billion engineering segment (industrial manufacturing, offshore energy and infrastructure) and fast-growing niches like offshore wind and renewable power. A Y Combinator company co-founded by Terry Clarke, David Polanski and Adam Hayek and backed by Plug and Play, MINI and Urban.Us, it generated $150,000 in revenue during trials with 1,000 vendors on the platform, and planned a digital marketplace storefront plus community features for the quality industry.
